Så man kan starte med at spørge, hvad interesserer ikke-brugerne? Af undersø-
gelsen fremgår det, at bl.a. TV og film samt sport er topscorer, og det må man jo
nok erkende, at der ikke er så forfærdelig meget af på de danske museer lige nu!
Så en måde at ”lokke” ikke-brugerne ind på museerne kan være at appellere til
disse temaer og andre på listen i undersøgelsen – og med kant, kreativitet, per-
spektiver og fantasi, der bringer det bedste frem i museet, temaet og den bruger,
som endnu ikke opfatter sig som museumsgæst – endnu!

Et glimrende eksempel så man på Viborg Museum, der for få år siden lavede ud-
stillingen om Olsen-banden, der bragte helt nye brugergrupper ind på et ellers
forholdsvis traditionelt museum. En lignende succes oplever vi på Naturhisto-
risk Museum i Aarhus gennem udstillingen ”Frihedens Værksted” om Troels
Kløvedals eventyrlige sejlerliv og møde med verdens kulturer. Mange kender
Troels Kløvedal fra bøger (som er ikke-brugernes tredjestørste interesse), fore-
drag og utallige Tv-programmer. Troels Kløvedal har som en særlig kulturper-
sonlighed igennem årtier haft overraskende stor betydning for mange borgere
overalt i landet. Det er de tilbagemeldinger vi uhjulpet får indblik i via udstillin-
gens logbog, som rigtigt mange mennesker skriver i. Temaet er nærværende og
har betydning for gæsterne, ligesom de relaterer sig til personen, fortællingerne
og værdierne i udstillingen – enten fordi de selv er sejlere eller blot kan se sig
selv i de syv hovedtemaer som udstillingen omhandler: Kærlighed, Frihed, Fæl-
lesskab, Livet, Havet, Eventyret og den livslange nysgerrighed. Hvor Naturhi-
storisk Museums sædvanlige publikum er en kvinde mellem 30 og 50 år med to
børn ved hånden, oplever vi nu et forfriskende supplement af ægtepar, grupper
af private og ikke mindst en stor del erhvervsgrupper. Museets besøgstal er med
den nye udstilling mere end fordoblet.
Relevans er derfor af den allerstørste betydning for at gøre folk nysgerrige og for
at få ikke-brugere til at besøge museerne.
